About Cynclair Collies
Our Story
Cynclair Collies is located in Washington state, on the west side near the ocean, close to the Oregon coast on a 10 acre farm with full kennel facility. This provides our dogs with plenty of space to run and play. Our dogs are not just breeding animals - they are beloved family members who live in our home and share our daily lives.
Puppies are raised in our home by our family. My daughter and son are heavliy involved in socializing the puppies. Sire and dams are health tested and have OFA done. We show our Collies and care about the breed standard, it's the utmost reason for breeding, to preserve what the standard was put in place for, the unique collie.
We believe in quality over quantity. We typically have only 1-2 litters per year, allowing us to give each puppy the individual attention they deserve. Every breeding decision is made with careful consideration of health, temperament, and conformation.
Health Testing
All our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing including:
- Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
- Multi-Drug Resistance (MDR1)
- Hip and Elbow Evaluations
- Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
- Dermatomyositis (DMS)

Meet the Breeder
Nancy Mathes
I was blessed to be raised in a family of collie enthusiasts. My mother, Cynthia Brown, started me down the road of showing and handling collies. Cindy has owned collies since she was a child, now at 81 years old, I've taken over breeding and raising the puppies & the care of the collies we have here.
We believe in ethical preservation breeding and strive to produce healthy outgoing collies that fit the breed standard. We actively show our dogs locally and across the country. We are members of the Collie Club of America and The Overlake Collie Club, as well as the Collie Health Foundation.
All of our breeding dogs have extensive health testing. Check out our Champions page to see some of our former and current show stars. Our collie puppies are raised alongside my kids in our home. They are socialized with cats, chickens, horses, farm equipment and started on crate training. We typically have litters once or twice a year. We occasionally have retired adult show dogs available. We tentatively have a litter planned for fall of 2025.
